Sultan Baabullah (10 February 1528 - the beginning of 1583), also written by Sultan Babullah or Sultan Baab (European writing) was the sultan and ruler of the 24th Sultanate of Ternate who ruled between 1570 and 1583. He was known as the greatest Ternate and Malukutseresar sultan in history, defeated the Portuguese and ushered Ternate to a golden peak at the end of the 16th century. Sultan Baabullah is also dubbed as the ruler of 72 inhabited islands that include islands in the eastern archipelago, southern Mindanao and the Marshall islands.
